You Look So Fine
Contains the song 'You Look So Fine' by Garbage
‘You look so fine
I want to break your heart
and give you mine
You're taking me over’
Aikou slowly makes his way down the stairs, but pauses when he finds Donavi waiting there for him. Donavi looks up, meeting the fox’s eyes before pushing himself away from the wall and standing straight, hands in his pockets.
‘It's so insane
You've got me tethered and chained
I hear your name
and I'm falling over’
Going down the rest of the stairs, Aikou smiles gently at Donavi, who’s blank expression doesn’t change. Then the dark catling walks into the kitchen and sits down, Aikou following him in. The fox starts to speak, chattering softly as Donavi listens.
The scene changes to a rainy day.
‘I'm not like all the other girls
I can't take it like the other girls
I won't share it like the other girls
that you used to know’
Donavi stands silently in a graveyard, rain pelting down on his already soaked form. His silken white shirt is plastered to his form, black pants hanging like a second skin. His eyes are shadowed as he looks down at a grave stone.
‘You look so fine’
The view pans down the stone. Slowly, it reads ‘Descia Driafet.’ There is no birth date or death date, simply a small message at the bottom. ‘She will always be remembered and cherished.’ Donavi falls to his knees, mud from the wet ground spattering onto his white shirt and his fur as his back shakes with hitching breath.
The scene changes as the front door of the house opens and Aikou looks up from the kitchen with a worried expression.
‘Knocked down
Cried out
Been down just to find out
I'm through
Bleeding for you’
Donavi stands at the door, mud still caking his pants, though dripping off from the continued downpour. His blank face shows nothing, though his eyes are pale with tears that run down his face and mingle with the raindrops drenching his form. Aikou slowly rises and makes his way towards the catling, taking Donavi’s face in his hands.
‘I'm open wide
I want to take you home
We'll waste some time
You're the only one for me’
Aikou doesn’t seem to mind the rain being blown in the open door, nor does he seem to notice it. Ever so slowly, Donavi looks back into Aikou’s face, his body shaking. He opens his mouth to say something, but no sound comes out as he tries desperately not to start sobbing. The fox gently pulls the catling into a tight embrace with Donavi gratefully returns.
‘You look so fine
I'm like the desert tonight
Leave her behind
If you want to show me’
Clinging onto Aikou for what seems dear life, Donavi’s shaking body stops supporting him. Aikou drops to the floor with him, not relinquishing his grip as he whispers softly words into the catling’s ear.
‘I'm not like all the other girls
I won't take it like the other girls
I won't fake it like the other girls
that you used to know’
Donavi finally lets go, sitting back on his heels and looking away. Shame filters through his features, shame at being so opening emotional. Aikou gently nudges his face back to look at him, smiling softly. He reaches up and brushes the catling’s hair out of his eyes, both of them, and lets his thumb rub Donavi’s cheek. Donavi stares at him, a little surprised as he leans into the touch but doesn’t break eye contact.
‘You're taking me over
Over and over
I'm falling over
Over and over
You're taking me over’
The scene changes, obviously another day with rain clouds still there, but not crying. The house stands tall and beautiful within it’s meadow, surrounded by tall trees all around. Aikou comes out of the door, dragging Donavi along with him.
‘drown in me one more time
hide inside me tonight
do what you want to do
just pretend happy end’
Donavi walks with his hands stuffed in his pockets beside Aikou, the two of them going down a path through the woods.
‘let me know let it show
ending with letting go
ending with letting go
ending with letting go’
They find a small meadow, dotted with lots of wild flowers. Aikou smiles at Donavi before going to pick some, the blue eyed catling watching him from the path.
‘let's pretend happy end
let's pretend happy end
let's pretend happy end
let's pretend happy end’
Almost smiling, Donavi slowly makes his way into the field to join Aikou.
